Guest book alternatives

Now more than ever couples are looking for unique ways to add personal touches to their weddings. In an earlier post we talked about alternatives for guest books such as the guestbook from Guestbookstore.com. Well here's another great idea that will last a lifetime - The Wish Tree.
There are a lot of different ways to do a wish tree. From finding branches and painting them to match your decor, or purchasing a metal tree (can be found online). But we love this next idea. Go to your local nursery and find a tree and a beautiful pot that matches your decor. You can even just cover the simple plastic pot it comes in with some amazing fabric and ribbon if you'd like. Use the tree as your wishing tree on the day of your wedding. Once you're done with it you can plant it in your backyard. You now have a constant reminder of your wedding day growing in your yard!

For the actual cards your guest write wishes on, you can use just about anything. You can design them yourself or have your stationary vendor design something special for you. Just thread some ribbon through the cards and ask guest to write down their wishes or advices for you. Here is a little poem you can put next to your tree:

As we begin our new journey as the new Mr. & Mrs.
We could surely use your advice and wishes.
Share with us your wisdom about marriage, love & life,
the secret to being a good husband or a top notch wife.
Jot down a memory of us or a reminder of our day.
A doodle or picture will do if you don't know what to say.
Please don't forget, to sign your name.
What ever you pen, we're sure to treasure
long after this day has passed

Unique Guestbook

Guestbooks today can capture the true personality of a bride and groom. They are no longer limited to using the traditional guestbook that only captures guests name and where they've traveled from. We love the guest books over at http://www.guestbookstore.com/ as they allow guests to write about their favorite memory of the day, give the couple advice and tell their story. Instead of tucking this away after the wedding, you'll want to display it so you can share your guests memories with everyone.

Another bride I know went back east to get married, so she purchased a book about the Canadian Rockies and had guests sign on the pages. It was a way to bring a little piece of their home here in Alberta to their guests out East. Now the book has a home on her coffee table.

There are so many great ways to personalize the guestbook!

Another guestbook idea we love is the Adesso Album - check them out http://www.picturethisalbums.com/. Guest have pictures taken of them (yes using a Polaroid camera!) and slide their pictures into the albums and write comments. Instantly you have a great photo album of all the important people you've asked to witness your big day!
